Kabankalan City successfully celebrated their 11th Charter Day celebration last August 2, 2008. Movie personalities like Pinay actress Ara Mina and actor Geoff Eigenmann are among those who entertained the people of Kabankalan City by delivering their best performance through singing and dancing.

The Udyakan Festival street dance competition was also one of the main attractions during this festivity. The dance parade was participated by different schools around the city. The participating schools are Bantayan National High School, Binicuil National High School-Main, Fortress College, Kabankalan Catholic College, Tabugon National High School, Florentino Galang National High School, Negros Stage College of Agriculture, Binicuil NHS-Talubangi Extention, Binicuil NHS-Poblacion Extension and Tapi National High School.

Ismael Java, consultant, Udyakan committee of KCCTFI, said that the festival dancers have to incorporate the music and steps originally composed and choreographed in Kabankalan in their presentation. This is necessary in order for the festival to acquire its identity and originality.

It seems the Fortress College really emerged as the best performers as they declared as the champion, the school received P 30,000 and trophy as a championship prize, and they also won the best choreography award.  Some other special awards was taken by Kabankalan Catholic College for best in costume, and Florentino Galang Elementary School best in street dancing they both received trophies and additional cash prize of P5, 000.
