Bacolod City is now ready for the celebration of the 29th Masskara Festival which will kick-off on October 1, 2008 and will end on October 19, 2008 or its highlight and the charter day of Bacolod City. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is expected to be the main guest for the opening of Masskara Festival which will be held in the city public plaza. The city government spearheaded by Mayor Bing Leonardia with the coordination to the Masskara Festival Committee is now preparing different activities to make the festival more meaningful.

The Street dancing competition will still be the main attraction of this event, which will be participated by different barangays and schools all over Bacolod. The much awaited Electronic Masskara on its 2nd year of implementation under the idea of Mayor Bing will also be one of the highlight of the big celebration.

Oct 16 – Schools Category of Masskara Street Dancing
Oct 17 – Barangay Category of Masskara Street Dancing
Oct 18 – Open Category for the Masskara Street Dancing
Oct 19 – BACOLOD CITY CHARTER DAY CELEBRATION and MILITARY PARADE
