Nov 22nd, 2008 | By b2ng | Category: News and HeadlinesThe Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation recently announced that the La Consolacion College-IS won the best mask in the “Animals of Negros” foot parade which took place last Wednesday November 19, 2008. The parade, which was participated by different schools, government and non-government organizations such as Andres Bonifacio Elementary School I that adopted the Negros tube-nosed fruit bat as their flagship species and St. Benilde School with their Visayan Spotted Deer masks.
Also, in the parade includes BACIWA, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office, Provincial Environment Management Office, Negros State College of Agriculture and MUAD-Negros. Other recognition was also given to St. Benilde School for their best gimmick award and ABES-I for the most number of students’ awards.
The parade was the highlight of the annual Negros Wildlife Month which was started at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon and ended at the Bacolod City Bay Center. This annual celebration aims to create wider awareness of the need to protect and conserve the endemic wildlife of the island according to Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation Inc.
