MV Doulos Set to Return in Bacolod City

The World’s Oldest Ocean-Going Passenger Ship still active is back. Yes, the MV Doulos also considered as the worlds largest floating book fair will have a historic return to visit Bacolod City on February 13 to March 2, 2008. The ship’s first docked to the City of Smiles was in December 2006 which attracted over 28, 000 local and foreign people on board. The Doulos visit is scheduled to take place at BREDCO Port 3, Bacolod City Reclamation Area.

The floating book fair is carrying 6000 different book titles covering a wide of range of subjects sold in very affordable prices. It is owned by a non-profit charity organization Gute Blcher flr Alle (“Good Books for All”) which is based in Germany.

Serving as an ambassador of goodwill and international relations, MV Doulos seeks to bring “Knowledge, Help and Hope” to the nations. Over the past 30 years, Doulos has visited over 500 ports in more than 100 countries, providing good educational literature and promoting unity in diversity. The ship’s crew consists of 330 people from 50 different nations, most of whom have devoted 2 years to serve as fulltime volunteers. In areas of great need or tragedy, the Doulos crew partners with local organizations to provide humanitarian aid and relief work.

Everyone is invited to come and see for the return of the second oldest ship in the world, MV Doulos is just only two-years younger than the famed Titanic.
