About the City

Canlaon City is situated on the eastern side of the famous Mt. Canlaon, the only volcano in the whole island of Negros.  On the north it  is bounded by San Carlos City, on the east by Vallehermoso, on the south Guihulngan while on the west side by the municipality of La Castellana in Negros Occidental.

The Canlaon City considered as the highest peak in the Island of Negros because of the Mt. Canlaon which according to many one of the biggest and beautiful volcano in the Philippines.

Canlaon City rated as 4th class city in the 1st Congressional District of Negros Oriental. It has an area of 160.7 sq. kilometer which mostly planted by sugarcane and rice. The city has a total population of 46, 548, in 9,302 households according to the 2000 Census.

Tourist Spots

A lot of beautiful tourist destinations can be found in the city of Canlaon.  One of the famous is Canlaon Volcano which is a great place for trekking and mountain climbing adventures. Other tourism attractions that the city has are Oiscamodel Farm, Mayon Zigzag, Inayawan Enchanted Falls, City Park, Canlaon Falls and their colorful city festival “Pasayaw sa Canlaon”.
